” Someone asked me, how does one acquire skills in Photography. And I replied.
Practice makes Perfect. There is no one book or workshop that can best teach you the Art of Photography. To be good at it, or anything in Life, you have to read, practice, make mistakes and learn from those mistakes.
Life is beautiful. Find inspiration around you. “
Jan’s interest in Photography began in High School when she was first introduced to an old Konika camera. In college, she was reunited with the Art of Photography through her EDTECH class at the UP Diliman College of Education. She was able to explore the Art, from taking themed images and developing films. When she began to work as a Life Coach, her love for Photography was rekindled anew. Her interest eventually grew into Love and Passion. In the summer of 2010, Labski Fotografi was born.
Jan earned her Bachelor in Elementary Education Teaching in the Early Grades degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She is a Candidate for Masters of Art in Guidance and Counseling from the same university. She was a preschool teacher in an all-boys school for 4 years and a life coach in an international school for 6 years. She started as a self-taught Photographer. To continue improving her skill, she eventually enrolled in Basic and Advanced Photography workshops at the FPPF in Manila where her submitted images won Best in Landscape and Best in Portrait. She gets inspiration from Photographers across the globe, reads Photography-related books, joins Photography forums and arranges Photowalks with her fellow Photographer-friends. Jan completed her 2012 Wedding Photography apprenticeship under Raymond Fortun Photography and was an associate Wedding Photographer for the same company until 2014.
Jan is a nanay to Dakila, a wife to Gino and a mom-dog to Claudia (the family Labrador).
